Honoring a Legacy

This tournament was named to honor the music and philanthropic legacy of Carl Perkins, whose record, “Blue Suede Shoes” is regarded in music history as one of the all time greats.

Raising Money for Children

The Carl Perkins Exchange Club raises awareness of child abuse everywhere. A donation will be made to the Center from the proceeds of the tournament.

Welcome to the Fifth Annual Blue Suede Invitational!

The Blue Suede Invitational is a junior high basketball tournament for students attending schools in West Tennessee and surrounding counties. Medina Middle School and South Gibson County High School welcomes you as the host of the tournament. Dates for this years tournament are January 21, 23, 26, and 28.

Medina Middle School is located in Medina Tennessee 30 minutes northeast of Jackson. It is the academic home of over 1000 students in grades 3-8. Visit our school website to find more information about our school.

The tournament is named in honor of Jackson rockabilly legend, Carl Perkins, who first recorded the famous song "Blue Suede Shoes" in 1955. A portion of the proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
